‘New’ GM Could Make IP in 2010 Wilson Says

bankruptcy court on Wednesday. GM is currently seeking approval to sell its assets to a ?new GM? that is currently backed by the government. If the deal wins approval GM will be allowed to sell its strongest assets including its Cadillac and Chevy brands.

The percentage of drivers talking on handheld phones rose slightly to about 3. 9 percent over the last 10 months or so but still remains 58 percent lower than before the law passed. Although some drivers have concluded from their own “observational” surveys that plenty of folks still yap on the phone while in traffic the Auto Club says California’s experience with the new law has been quite positive especially compared with say New York State where a similar 2001 law had “almost no effect.

June Auto Sales: Kia Motors America

– Kia Motors America on Wednesday said its June auto sales fell 5 percent as strong sales for the Sportage model were unable to offset a steep drop in demand for all other models. Total vehicle sales for June slid to 26845 from 28292. The Sportage the only model that sold more than last year saw sales more than triple to 6267. Sales for June also included three new models.

(AP) — Nissan North America Inc. said Wednesday that June sales of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the U. 1 percent compared with the same period a year ago though its Maxima sedan showed solid growth.

June auto sales: Chrysler

– Chrysler Group LLC said Wednesday its June U. sales fell 42 percent amid weaker sales across almost its entire lineup though the decline was smaller than in previous months. Chrysler sales fell to 68297 from 117457 in June last year. The automaker which emerged from a two-month stay in bankruptcy court on June 1 with new owner Fiat Group SpA continued to sustain weak sales during June.
