February 19 2009 Auto Club Speedway in Fontana is offering a two-for-one bonus Saturday in hopes of drawing bigger crowds to its February NASCAR Weekend. Both the Nationwide Series cars and Camping World Truck Series will be racing Saturday around the final round of practice for Sunday’s featured Auto Club 500 for Sprint Cup cars. Last year the trucks ran on Friday night with the Nationwide Series on Saturday night. But attendance for both races was low leading NASCAR officials to bundle the events. The 200-mile truck race will start at noon Saturday with the 300-mile Nationwide race starting at 4:45 p.

(GM) receives the extrafederal aid it’s requesting tough negotiations with the United Auto Workersunion over the fate of billions of dollars in retiree obligations stand betweensuccess and potential bankruptcy. “We’re looking at negotiations that are still in front of us in a substantiveway” GM Chief perating fficer Fritz Henderson said Wednesday in a conferencecall with analysts. “There just wasn’t enough time to get everything done by the17th. ” The UAW on Tuesday said it struck tentative deals with Detroit’s auto makers. The deals include agreements to alter factory work rules and cut benefits forunemployed workers according to people familiar with the plans.
