Office-goers hit as autos strike

Taxi drivers will not be joining the
strike. “Autos will go off the
road from midnight on Monday and we expect about 14 lakh drivers from across the
state to join us and stay off the roads,’ said Sharad Rao, president of the
Mumbai Automen’s Union, at a press conference on Monday. Over one lakh autos ply
in the city’s western and eastern suburbs. The strike will largely affect
office-goers during morning and evening peak hours, when a majority of them opt
for share-autos.
