HARRIS ON RACING: Patrick gets long-awaited win – Auto
ESPN – Apr 21, 2008
– When Danica Patrick finally got her first win, it was late on a Saturday night back home in the United States — not exactly ideal timing for one of the most historic victories in open-wheel racing. And although the victory came an ocean away, in Japan, the 26-year-old Patrick wasn’t complaining. “I was excited for a little while, shocked for a little bit and mostly just relieved to get that done,” Patrick said Monday, still relishing her win at Twin Ring Motegi, the first victory by a woman in major open-wheel racing. “I’m not shooshing it aside, but I’m definitely glad that one is over. “The win came in her fourth full season and 50th career start in the IRL IndyCar Series, and she had spent much of her time before this answering questions about when she’d earn her first victory.

The biggest Chinese auto makers, which had earlier signalled that they might enter North America as early as next year, are now admitting that they need several more years to build dealerships and meet regulatory hurdles. Their sales in China and other emerging markets have soared so fast that they now regard North America as a lower priority. Car sales jumped by 21 per cent in China in the first quarter of this year, showing no signs of weakening after five years of 20 to 30 per cent annual growth. China has become the world’s second-biggest car market, behind only the United States, and it could overtake the U.
Will Power wins last-ever Champ Car race – Auto
ESPN – Apr 21, 2008
– Will Power will go down in the record books as the last driver to win a Champ Car World Series event, and that’s bittersweet for the Australian driver. “I love Champ Car racing,” Power said Sunday after taking the checkered flag in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. It’s great to win here in Long Beach in the last Champ Car race.
Inmate Files Restraining Order Against ‘Grand Theft Auto’…

He calls for the companies to cease distrbution of the “newest Grand Theft Auto games.

A Skoda spokesman last week told Thomson Financial News the carmaker was on target to reach its 2008 sales target of 700,000 vehicles. Last year, Skoda, the country’s largest exporter, sold 630,032 cars and contributed to VW’s full-year profit by about 13 percent.
