com staff report For the first time in almost 10 years Key Motorsports will compete in what is now the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The team will test at Richmond International Raceway next Monday and Tuesday in hopes of qualifying for the Nationwide race at RIR on May 2 — one of a handful of Nationwide events the team plans to enter in 2008. “We’re going to give it our best shot for a few races and see what happens” team owner Curtis Key Sr. “The cars all have been to the wind tunnel and posted some pretty good numbers.

Raikkonen comfortably won the Malaysian Grand Prix immediately injecting Ferrari back into the title race after the disappointment of the previous weekend’s flop in Australia — where neither of its cars finished. Raikkonen won by 20 seconds over BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica with McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen another 19 seconds back in third. One negative for Ferrari was the failure by pole-sitter Felipe Massa to finish the race. He spun off under no pressure while running in second place shortly after the halfway mark.

It was good to learn that real racing activities had returned to the storied old track. ) Observer the track’s media center was decorated with media credentials from February 2004 when the last NASCAR race at what was then known as North Carolina Speedway was held.

com David Reutimann is undergoing a transition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this weekend. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver is moving from the No. 00 he’s always driven in the series to the No. 44 recently vacated by the retiring Dale Jarrett.
