Toyota to introduce concept pickup truck at Detroit auto show

plans to introduce a concept hybrid pickup truck featuring improved fuel economy and lower emissions at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit the auto maker said Friday. The A-BAT concept vehicle is equipped with Hybrid Synergy Drive Toyota’s third-generation gasoline-electric hybrid power-train technology according to the company. Its trapezoidal profile was borrowed from the Prius another hybrid Toyota vehicle.

Shanghai Auto on Wednesday agreed a $286 million dollar (143. 4 million pound) deal to acquire the vehicle and core auto parts operations of Nanjing Auto an eastern China manufacturer which surprised car enthusiasts in 2005 by snapping up the MG brand and some other assets after the collapse of the British firm MG Rover. With a stock market value of $24 billion Shanghai Auto backed by parent SAIC has financial clout roughly equivalent to Italy's Fiat or Hyundai of South Korea. Digital meters: auto union demands time

10‘One-month extension not enough’ HYDERABAD: A day after the extension of the deadline for installation of digital meters from December 31 to January 31 auto drivers have demanded the Transport Department to push the date for six more months. Extension In a press release issued here on Thursday Andhra Pradesh Auto and Taxi Drivers Union General Secretary A. Ravi Shanker insisted that one-month extension would not be sufficient to fix prescribed devices. 10 lakh autos in the twin cities only 20000 vehicles have been installed with digital meters till date.
