It’s easy to see why Toyota would want to lure a top-echelon team such as JGR into its fold but you’d think an organization that has won two Nextel Cup championships in Chevrolets during the past five years would rather put up a fight than switch. As it stands however Gibbs must split the Chevrolet pie with three other top-level partners: Hendrick Motorsports Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc. If the Camry nameplate were on the Gibbs cars there would be no argument about the team at the top of the Toyota pecking order.
