(AP) — With few wrecks only a handful of lead changes and no driver drama it was easy to declare this past Bristol race a bore. Many people did just that after watching winner Carl Edwards and runner-up Kasey Kahne lead 487 of the 500 laps in Saturday night’s race around the bullring.

— A late-race collision between teammates Dario Franchitti and Marco Andretti on Sunday at Infineon Raceway left both drivers fuming and gave Scott Dixon a victory and a narrow lead in the IndyCar Series standings with two races remaining. Although Franchitti declined to openly criticize his 20-year-old Andretti Green Racing teammate he said “Marco was out there trying to win the race and we were out there trying to win a championship. Franchitti who came into the race with an eight-point lead over Dixon started from the pole and dominated much of the Motorola Indy 300 leading 62 of the 80 laps on the 2. 26-mile 14-turn road course. Dixon stretched his fuel farther than the other leaders almost all day.

At a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by auto market union president Muhammad Akbar the traders vent their anger against the city district government for not initiating repairs of the dilapidated road which had developed craters and was flooded with sewage and rainwater causing inconvenience to the shopkeepers as well as the customers visiting the market. They lamented that despite payment of various taxes the traders were being deprived of better facilities. They said though an international stadium district police lines and the Central Jail were situated on the dual road besides some other government buildings no one bothered to take notice of the situation. They vowed to launch a protest drive if their demands were not met.
