It was Edwards’ first victory on a short track and his second victory of the season guaranteeing his return to the Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup. “This is a huge win for me and yet it’s a huge contrast from last year” Edwards said following his sixth career win. Edwards 28 had a tremendous 2005 his first full season in Nextel Cup with four wins and a third-place finish in the Chase. He was one of the favorites to challenge for the 2006 championship.
