Zhang said that the industry was particularly short of high-end talents especially those engaged in auto designing and technicians in workshops. There was a great gap between the demand and supply of automobile experts as there were only 6000 to 7000 graduates from relevant colleges each year while a large automaker abroad usually need at least 7000 people to build an independent product development system a professor of the automotive college of Shanghai-based Tongji University Yu Zhuoping said.
