n a restart with four laps left in Saturday’s race — the first in Canada since 1958 for any one of NASCAR’s top three touring series — Marcos Ambrose spun Gordon under caution in Turn 4 just after Gordon passed the race leader and just after a pileup in Turn 2 triggered by contact between eventual race winner Kevin Harvick and Scott Pruett. Gordon recovered from the spin and fell in line in 13th position. As the cars rolled under caution NASCAR instructed Gordon to take his place behind Ron Fellows who was running 12th. Gordon refused resumed his former position (second) in the running order and ignored NASCAR’s black flag after the subsequent restart.
