‘Exorbitant’ fares A complaint that is often heard from people travelling by auto-rickshaws in the city is that the fares charged by the drivers are ‘exorbitant. ’ Unlike their counterparts in Hyderabad and other cities auto-rickshaw drivers of Vijayawada are loathe to the idea of fixing any kind of meter to their vehicle much less a digital meter. The ability to hire a vehicle plainly depends on the bargaining skills of commuters and of course on the whims and fancies of drivers who demand as much fare as they want. Representatives of auto-rickshaw drivers’ unions say in their defence that the drivers will be put to loss if meters are fixed as the topography of the city is vastly different from that of other major cities.

Friday the nine-year-old Seattle company which started with $250000 in seed capital and never took professional venture capital money is announcing that it has raised $3 million from co-founder Alex Algard. Responding to the cries of millions of Xbox 360 owners Rockstar Games is publishing Grand Theft Auto IV one the Xbox 360 at the same time as its native PS3 release. Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to be in stores on ctober 19 this year. Rockstar has formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft to provide exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live giving the community “ever-expanding gameplay experiences that simply aren’t possible on other consoles”.
