Tony Van Alphen Business Reporter Canada’s roaring auto industry ripped into overdrive in May and recorded the best sales month in its history. Sales and leases of cars and light trucks surged 10. 3 per cent – or more than 17200 – to 185471 vehicles in May from the corresponding month last year manufacturers reported yesterday. Reflecting continuing strength of the Canadian economy the sales performance smashed the previous record by more than 2000 vehicles in the same month in 2003. "Wow wow" said analyst Dennis DesRosiers who has tracked industry sales for more than two decades.
