A few miles away another story is told at the Budget Inn andFantasy Suites. There rooms were still available this week for theSaturday night before the race for $119. Suites were a bithigherand there was a $5 charge for having the phone turned on.

– When Ryan Newman won the pole for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 it marked the second leg of an unusual double. Helio Castroneves already had claimed the top starting spot for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 ensuring that the two Penske Racing drivers will start from the pole in the respective races as they had done in 2003.

Led by chief mechanic Rick Rinaman Helio Castroneves’ crew beat Penske teammate Sam Hornish Jr. ’s crew in final round of the Indianapolis 500 pit stop contest yesterday. The victory was worth $50000 to the team and Castroneves added a surprise gift of a $1500 watch to each crew member. “These guys are just incredible” said Castroneves who will start the race tomorrow from the pole.
