Lear executive says auto makers more willing to link costs with price

said Wednesday that auto makers are more willing to consider a supplier’s costs when negotiating annual prices for future contracts. Suppliers to auto makers struggled financially to meet annual price-reduction targets as raw-material prices have increased mid-contract. Typically suppliers can’t pass along raw-materials costs. Lear President Doug DelGrosso speaking during a conference call to discuss first-quarter results said auto makers now are more willing to talk about price reductions annually rather than setting them in stone years in advance.
