– For Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon what happens at the track stays at the track. n a late-race restart in Sunday’s Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway Gordon bumped Edwards out of the way. Gordon went on to finish fourth one spot ahead of Edwards.

The spokeswoman said the two companies will invest 100 mln usd in the alliance which will be 51 pct-controlled by Chery with the remaining 49 pct held by Socma. Mercosur is the Latin American trading bloc of about 250 mln consumers from Argentina Brazil Paraguay Uruguay and most recently Venezuela. Chery and Socma will start their vehicle production in May at the Sevel plant in Montevideo Uruguay where they will produce a luxury SUV model dubbed Tiggo and a compact car for the mass market called the QQ. Chery already sells those models in China.

Perodua the other national carmaker has effectively taken the pole position in the passenger vehicle segment capturing about 42% market share with total sales of 118987 units for the first nine months to September MARC said. Total passenger vehicles sold in the domestic market for the first nine months to September 2006 stood at 286158 units compared with 307995 units in the same period last year. The Malaysian Automotive Association in its latest outlook report projected that total industry volume would drop 6% to 520000 units this year whereby passenger vehicles sales would decline by 8% to 368000 units.
Police nab three cousins and recover stolen auto parts

The two men and a 16-year-old boy were picked in separate raids here on Saturday. Following a tip-off a team led by ASP Denis Leong went to a house in Jalan Kerto on the town’s outskirts and detained two of the suspects. The police team recovered various types of motorcycle spare parts from a large water tank in the house compound. The third suspect was detained in a raid at another house where the police also seized various machinery spare parts vehicle tyres and more than 20 tins of paint.
